ADHD and Learning Disorder Assessments

If your child or teen is struggling to focus, learn, manage emotions, or get along with others, psychological testing can help.

As a licensed clinical psychologist, I provide in-depth evaluations for children (ages 5+), teens, and college students.

A psychological evaluation will uncover your child’s unique strengths, explain why they are having challenges, and give you a roadmap to help them thrive. Every evaluation is personalized to your child's needs and includes practical recommendations you can put into action right away.

Psychological testing can help if your child:

  • Struggles to focus, gets distracted easily, or has difficulty staying on task.

  • Takes much longer than classmates to complete homework or assignments.

  • Is having trouble learning to read, write, or understand math.

  • Isn't making expected academic progress, even with extra tutoring or support.

  • Has frequent emotional ups and downs such as frustration, anxiety, sadness, or impulsive behaviors.

  • Has trouble making or keeping friends, or finds social situations confusing.

These challenges are often signs of ADHD, learning disorders, autism, or a mental health condition. A psychological evaluation gives you the clarity you need to help your child.

How I Help

I specialize in psychological testing & evaluation for:

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Many factors can interfere with focus and attention. I conduct thorough assessments to determine whether your child's attention challenges stem from ADHD, anxiety, a learning difference, giftedness, or another cause.

Autism Spectrum Disorder

Autism can look very different from one child to another, particularly in girls and gifted children. I conduct thorough autism assessments that help families understand their child's unique way of experiencing and navigating the world. My evaluations focus on strengths as well as areas where support would be helpful.

Mental Health Conditions

I conduct thorough mental health evaluations to understand what's behind your child's emotional struggles. I assess for anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, and other conditions that affect how children think, feel, and behave. These evaluations help distinguish between different diagnoses that can look similar. An accurate diagnosis is essential for helping your child get the right treatment and support.

Learning Disorders
(Including Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, and Dyscalculia)

Learning disorders are brain-based differences that make it hard to learn to read, write, or understand math. I provide comprehensive evaluations to find out if your child has a learning disorder and pinpoint which specific processing weaknesses are interfering with their learning. This ensures that interventions target the exact skills your child needs to develop.

Giftedness and Twice-Exceptionality

I identify bright kids whose challenges mask their abilities, or whose abilities mask their challenges. For instance, a gifted child with executive function difficulties might turn in messy, incomplete work that doesn't reflect their actual abilities. Or a bright child with dyslexia might work so hard to compensate that their reading struggles aren’t noticed until the academic demands become too great to manage. These twice-exceptional children often go unsupported because their true needs aren't recognized. Testing reveals the full picture of their strengths and struggles and shows exactly what they need to thrive.

Types of evaluations

I offer three types of psychological evaluations for children, teens, and college students. During our initial consultation, we'll discuss your concerns and I'll recommend the evaluation that best fits your child's needs.

Psychoeducational Evaluation

Assessment for ADHD and Learning Disorders (Including Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, and Dyscalculia)

Examines how your child learns and processes information. This evaluation is ideal if your child is struggling in school or if you have concerns about your child's attention, reading, writing, or math. This evaluation can diagnose ADHD and learning disorders.

Social-Emotional Evaluation

Assessment for Autism and Mental Health Conditions

Focuses on your child's emotional wellbeing, behavior patterns, social skills, and relationships. This assessment is helpful when anxiety, depression, behavioral challenges, or social concerns are impacting your child's daily life. This evaluation can diagnose mental health conditions and autism.

Comprehensive Psychological Evaluation

Complete Assessment for ADHD, Learning Disorders, Autism, and Mental Health

Includes everything from both the psychoeducational and social-emotional evaluations, providing the most complete and thorough understanding of your child. This evaluation is ideal for children who have a combination of attention, learning, social, and emotional challenges. This evaluation can diagnose ADHD, learning disorders, autism, and mental health conditions.
